It is important to ensure devices in the classroom are running the latest version of SPARKvue. This is to maximize compatibility with PASCO sensors, benefit from the latest features and resolve any potential bugs in outdated versions.
We have heard from many of our customers that updating SPARK LXi and LX Dataloggers can be challenging via WiFi. This can be due to lack of a robust internet connection or strict internet usage polices at schools, . In these situations it is possible to manually update your device. PASCO's SPARK LXi and LX use a customized version of Android. In order to manually upgrade SPARKvue, you will need to download and install the application's APK file directly on the device. You can follow the instructions or watch the video guide that will show you how quick and simple this process is.
Instructions:
- Download the SPARKvue APK file from the link above.
- Copy the file to the root of a USB flash drive.
- On LXi devices, press the power button on the interface and insert the USB flash drive into the USB port. On LX devices you will need a Micro USB to USB Female Adapter, also known as a USB OTG Adapter, to connect the USB flash drive.
- From the LX/LXi's home screen, open My Files
- Select the USB Storage device that should be on the bottom left of the menu. On smaller screens you may have to scroll to see it.
- Select the SPARKvue_x.x.x.x.apk file. Your device may say 'Staging app...'
- When prompted, select the Install option. SPARKvue is now updating
- When finished select Open. Congratulations, you're done!
- You can confirm your update has been successful by clicking on the Menu icon and selecting About SPARKvue. You should see the updated version number here.
